Yes, it’s a typical, way-too-long Pitchfork review, but Sonic Youth’s Daydream Nation may be the one album that deserves it. I can’t wait to see them play it live at the Fest in July. As for Lollapalooza, I’m not overwhelmed by the schedule this year (unlike last year’s fantastic three days), but I guess it’ll do. Blonde Redhead highlights for me on Friday; Interpol, The Hold Steady and Yeah Yeah Yeah’s on Saturday; and Sunday is the best day, with Pearl Jam, Modest Mouse, Iggy and the Stooges, TV on the Radio, and the legendary Juliette and the Licks! Amy Winehouse too. Ah, well, it’ll be fun.
Another festival coming up right around the corner is the Switchyard Festival, featuring the likes of…Milk at Midnight, amongst others. It’s on Saturday June 23 and MaM plays outdoors (for the first time ever) at 3:30pm. It’s at Chicago and California and is sponsored by The Continental bar. Good times, hot summer fun.
